The two symptoms mentioned in the summary seem likely to be related. Yesterday we were warned that the VM was causing alerts on the physical host and asked to fix it. My subsequent attempts to ssh into bloodhound-vm.apache.org have failed, eventually timing out.

The last time I recall logging in would have been shortly after the dist-upgrading of the VM on 6th June 2014. The last successful page view that I can find at the moment on https://issues.apache.org/bloodhound was 26th June 2014.
