James with Oracle9i cutting large messages
Anyone have any ideas about this?
I was setting up James with Oracle 9i and taking step by step notes in anticipation of submitting the start of a db setup FAQ. I have everything working so far in a basic setup except that it seems the spooler is chopping off large attachment emails. This happens with straight smtp sending so it has to at least start with the spooler.
I am running James 2.0-a3-cvs from 03/27/02 on JDK 1.4.0 on RedHat 7.2. I can try JDK 1.3.1_01 if anyone thinks that could contribute and next week I can transfer the db to an Oracle 8.1.7 db, but I thought I'd bring this up first. I am using the Oracle 9i Type 2 JDBC driver (OCI) because the 9i Type 4 driver seems to have a bug working with the long raw datatype.

Eric,
Sorry, but I haven't worked with Oracle. This does still sound like a
bug in the JDBC driver. I've been using M$ SQL Server for everything
behind James for some time, and I get socket timeout issues on large
messages (>2 megs), but I never see any data loss. Seems like you're
aware of Oracle JDBC problems, but maybe it's worth checking those a bit
more.
