Impala development contribution

Hello,

We are Emily Abrams and Sofia Valbuena, juniors studying computer
science at the University of Michigan. For an assignment in our Intro to
Software Development class, we are tasked with contributing to an open
source project and are interested in contributing to Impala. We wanted to
reach out directly to see if there are 2-3 related "newbie" bugs or feature
requests in Python or C++ that would benefit from a team perspective. We
have a development timeline of 1-2 weeks (our final report is due on
April 26) but we need to report which project we'll be working with by
Wednesday 3/3 so we would love your thoughts by early this week. Thank you
for your time!

Best,
Emily and Sofia

Welcome! I pick up some newbie JIRAs that just require Python or C++
changes:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-12216
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-10268
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-7885
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-1002

You can find more in the list and pick anyone you're interested in:
https://issues.apache.org/jira/issues/?jql=project%20%3D%20IMPALA%20AND%20status%20%3D%20Open%20AND%20labels%20in%20(newbie%2C%20ramp-up)%20AND%20assignee%20in%20(EMPTY)

Let us know when you encounter any issues. Here are some wiki links to get
started:
