FOP 0.94 AND 0.95b

I have this test fo file. In FOP 0.94 the vertical line does not float over
the content, and in FOP 0.95b it does. Is this some fix or something that
was implemented into 0.95 or something? If so is there any way to get the
same results that 0.94 returns?

Thank you all for your help.

It's supposed to be soon, but there is no exact date set yet.

Can you elaborate on the trouble you encountered? We might be able to
help you out there.

have an estimated time of when that will be released?

If you want to try it out immediately, you'll need to check out from
the svn repo, and build the binary yourself (proverbial piece-of-cake
if you already have Ant installed).

Otherwise, you'll need to wait some for 0.95 final (to be released soon)

Re: FOP 0.94 AND 0.95b

Could have been a regression introduced by my refactoring the handling
of block-containers between 0.94 and 0.95beta. The case wasn't covered
in our test suite. I've committed a fix to the 0.95 branch:
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?rev=663482&view=rev
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/xmlgraphics/fop/branches/fop-0_95

The problem was that the flow area didn't generate a real reference area
(i.e. a new coordinate system).

Please note that the width="100%" will still (i.e. like in 0.94) return
a value that may not exactly be what you need for such a column
separator. I don't think there's any construct in XSL-FO that allows you
to express that properly. FO-Implementations like AntennaHouse have
proprietary extension for that.

Re: FOP 0.94 AND 0.95b

It is a column separator, however the line flows over the text in 0.95
e.g. fop0.95

This is some test content! | blah blah balh balh
This is some test content! | blah blah balh balh
This is some test content! | blah blah balh balh
This is some test content! | blah blah balh balh
                                    |
                                    |

e.g fop0.94
This is some test content! blah blah balh balh
This is some test content! blah blah balh balh
This is some test content! blah blah balh balh
This is some test content! blah blah balh balh
                                    |
                                    |
                                    |
                                    |
                                    |
                                    |

So how would i get this to work in 0.95? the left position isn't what
matters its the floating over the text when i span all that matters.

thank you for your help and time. I really appreciate it

For the first block of text, the overlap is caused by the fact that
9.3cm is more than half the region-body width, which is 8.26in (auto
width) minus 1.4in (margins).
If you reduce 'left' to roughly 8.7cm, it will more closely match the
intended outcome, if I interpret correctly: the line is meant as a
visual column-separator (?)

For the second block, I'm not sure what has changed that previously
hid the line behind blocks with span='all'. In theory, this would
require using the z-index property, but AFAIK, FOP does not yet take
that into account when painting the areas.

Cheers

Andreas
