I'm trying to understand the scenario in which you encounter this problem. Do
you have a copy of Encodings.properties on your class path that has no number
sign character (#) on the last line? The last line of the "usual" version of
that file contains the following text:
# can be found at http://www.iana.org/assignments/character-sets
So I suspect that the processor is trying to convert some of that text to a
number. Are you asking that a more informative error message be produced?
