OFBiz for banking?

Good day users of Apache OFBiz,

It looks that the ledger segments for the large company i previous
mentioned could be successful.

But now we got another very good development for OFBiz: we received a
request for OFBiz training from a national bank.

Anybody any experience in using OFBiz for banks? We can do large
companies, but a bank, we did not do yet.

Looking forward to people who did this or can help this to make this a
successful project?

Thank you

Regards,
Hans Bakker

Thank you for the reply. W.r.t license yes, ofbiz is the best. As you
rightly said, BFSI has a long tradition and legacy which is very difficult
to manage. I wish all the very best to your endeavors.

Thank you for your reply and the links provided. They sure can provide
some inside requirements.

OFBiz has the more liberal license than Mybanco where improvements do
not have to be shared with the creators and the solid software
development framework mybanco does not have. The last release was /23rd
Jan, 2011 /so perhaps they need some competition?

In the mean time we are now talking to 2 banks about using OFBiz for
accounting and HR.

However, this will be a long journey because banks have a long tradition
which cannot be changed easily.

If there are further developments, I let you know....

I have not done a core banking system but involved in a discovery phase for
a Micro Finance Institution. IMHO, ofbiz will help only to the extent of
CRM, ERP (for purchases, administration of inventory, HR, etc). For the
core banking, as of now no open source alternative to my knowledge. I would
like to share some info that i gathered in my last probe.

Hope this helps.

http://www.fina2.net/

FINA is the state-of-the-art, Free (Open Source) information management
system for Financial and Fiscal Supervision Authorities to collect data,
store them in the database and generate different reports using very
flexible report designer tools.

http://www.cyclos.org/

The Cyclos platform permits institutions such as local banks and MFI`s to
offer banking services that can stimulate local trade and development.
