Did the geronimo-kernel-DEV.jar go awol?

Hey, guys.

I'm trying to build Geronimo but Maven can't find the
geronimo-kernel-DEV.jar
I searched around and didn't find it. I updated my CVS to no avail.

Did I forget a step somewhere?

Best,

Well, at least I'm getting a different error message than I was earlier.
That's some kind of progress at least. Unfortunately, it's the exact same
error message that Matt K was having a week ago.

After checking out a clean version from CVS I typed:

$ maven build
(watched output . . . )
BUILD SUCCESSFUL

$ maven run
(watched exception stack go by . . .)

BUILD FAILED
File...... file:/e:/cygwin/cvsandbox/geronimo/incubator-geronimo/
Element... java
Line...... 542
Column.... 34
Java returned: 1
Total time: 9 seconds

The error seems to originate in twiddle.cli.Main, which is consistent with
Matt K's earlier post on the topic. Is there a resolution for this / can
anyone else replicate this error?

If so, I'd be happy to update the wiki : )

Kein Scheise. I'm with you all the way, Jan.

In the meantime, could we please replace the existing README.txt file with
the one attached (which contains updated run instructions)?

Many thanks,

[build system] Maven 'clean' (was: Re: Did the geronimo-kernel-DEV.jar go awol?)

Posted by Jan Bartel <ja...@mortbay.com>.
I have to say that this 'feature' (ie maven clean doesn't work) of
either maven or the way we are using it is a major PITA. It seems to me
a fundamental requisite of a build system that 'clean' should always
succeed. Because of this 'feature' I have wasted and continue to waste
time trying to force a clean build.

Is there anything we can do to ensure that 'clean' works 100% of the time?

Jan

RE: Did the geronimo-kernel-DEV.jar go awol?

Posted by Jeremy Boynes <je...@coredevelopers.net>.
It is building for me, but I initially had issues with the build as
well.

I would recommend doing a fresh checkout rather than just an update.

If you can't, you may need to clean/build several times (I needed
three). This is because the clean requires the dependencies exist so you
can't do a full clean until you have a full build :-(
