[jira] [Commented] (CASSANDRA-6045) Compressed block cache

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CASSANDRA-6045?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=13770000#comment-13770000 ]

Jonathan Ellis commented on CASSANDRA-6045:
-------------------------------------------

If we can make this work, I'd be happy to get rid of the caching at the RAR level (CASSANDRA-4937, CASSANDRA-5661). This will be a minor regression for uncompressed readers but I'm okay with that; compression is by far more common.

> CRAR can spend a lot of time repeatedly decompressing the same hot blocks. Let's cache those (preferably allocated off heap) to avoid this.
