Email Message Disappear from User Repository

Hello,

I just set up a small e-mail server for our group and am having trouble with email that apparently disappears from a users inbox.

The delivery goes well when mail is sent to a users box at the ip address.

user@0.0.0.0.com

however, when mail is sent to the user using a domain name

user@domainname.com

the mail disappears. That is, one can send mail, but the user does not retrieve any mail when they use an email agent like Outlook.

Some eighteen hours ago I ask the domain name to be pointed at the new DNS servers and the MX record has been properly updated. (the domain name in question was pointing to a different email server on two totally different DNS servers)

My only clue is a crypted message in the mailet log.

15/07/03 10:16:53 INFO James.Mailet: RemoteDelivery: Attempting delivery of Mail1058282213553-9-to-domainname.com to host mail.domainname.com. to addresses [user@domainname.com]

15/07/03 10:16:53 INFO James.Mailet: RemoteDelivery: Mail (Mail1058282213553-9-to-domainname.com) sent successfully to mail.domainname.com.

I can only conclude that the mail.domainname.com is the previous mail server and that the DNS change has not trickled down to the new DNS.

Any thoughts?

Hut

Is domainname.com listed in your servernames? HostIsLocal doesn't seem to
think that it is a local domain.

And RemoteDelivery seems to have found someone answering. Possibly the
previous mail server.
