Upgrading my OS and libapreq
Hi All,
I use Debian for my servers, and am preparing a migration to the latest version (Trixie). I mentionned in a previous message [0] that libapreq 2.17 seems to work again, so I would like to install it using Debian packages.
However, on my current system (Bookworm), I built libapreq 2.18 from svn sources. How can I get rid of this build cleanly, and make sure it won't mess with the upgrade?
Just remove the files listed below?
locate libapreq
/usr/lib/libapreq2.a
/usr/lib/libapreq2.la
/usr/lib/libapreq2.so
/usr/lib/libapreq2.so.3
/usr/lib/libapreq2.so.3.8.1
/usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.36.0/auto/libapreq2
/usr/local/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/perl/5.36.0/auto/libapreq2/.packlist

Also Apache2::Request, Apache2::Upload and Apache2::Cookie is automatically
generated if you use the the perl MakeFile.PL path

No he clarified in another email that the latest in version control is fine.

I remember this thread. Joe Schaefer writes "Nobody’s forcing you to use it", but he did not say how to replace libapreq.
With Apache2::Request, Apache2::Upload and Apache2::Cookie, I guess?

There is a lot of vitriol on the thread but the summary is 2.17 was a bad
release.

I forgot this :
On Debian Bookworm, libapreq package (from backports) is :
ii libapreq2-3 2.17-3~bpo12+1 amd64 generic Apache request library
On Debian Trixie (from main) :
ii libapreq2-3t64 2.17-7+b2 amd64 generic Apache request library
So some updates took place somewhere, it seems.

Nope :
# make uninstall
make: *** No rule to make target 'uninstall'. Stop.

Not in Trixie : I've tried maybe 20 times, can't reproduce the bug at all.

Did you make any change compared to your post of Jan 2024 [0]? I tried building 2.18 from svn trunk on Trixie, but many tests failed :

Does "make uninstall" work for you?
FYI: Version 2.18 resolves a problem with uploading attachments
through HTML forms that persists in 2.17, as I recall. I'm using
2.18 on Trixie, and it continues to resolve this problem for me.
