[Bug 121145] New: Overlapping/illegible Japanese characters in menus and 'Help'.

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=121145

          Priority: P3
            Bug ID: 121145
          Assignee: ooo-issues@incubator.apache.org
Summary: Overlapping/illegible Japanese characters in menus and
                    'Help'.
          Severity: major
        Issue Type: DEFECT
    Classification: Application
                OS: All
          Reporter: tsukinoko@hotmail.com
          Hardware: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
           Version: AOO 3.4.1
         Component: ui
           Product: word processor

I just updated OpenOffice on my computer. I install/ed it in Japanese, because
that it the other language in which I am fluent.
But I have come across a problem with the text in some of the drop-down menus.
In Japanese, there is a 'hyphen'-looking character which elongates a sound in
the Japanese language (used mostly for when sounding/writing out foreign words
in Japanese). On the OpenOffice Writer program, anything with this
'hyphen'-looking character has both the text with and without said "hyphen",
causing over-lapping and illegibility.
This is very annoying and sometimes hard read (it also becomes gobble-de-gook).

It was also mentioned on here by a Japanese user:
http://freesoft-100.com/review/soft/libreoffice.html

-----------

-----------

For menus like 'Tools' and options like 'Template' and 'Data Base', etc...
These words are written as 'tsuuru/tsu-ru', 'tenpureeto/tenpure-to' and 'deeta
beesu/de-ta be-su'.
But, for example, 'Tools', as 'tsuuru', it's coming up as 'tsururu' with the
first 'ru' seemingly CROSSED OUT, but that is just aforementioned "hyphen"
over-lapping with the non-hyphenated version.
The above-mentioned Japanese user had the same problem with ver 3.3 and 3.2.
The 'Help' screen is also completely screwed (wherever there are "hyphens").

Please do something about this so that Japanese readers can use this awesome
program without getting so damn frustrated with not being able to read simple
menu and help options? Thank you :)

P.S. I have not checked out anything other than 'Writer' so far...

Windows 7, AOO 4.0.1, Build:9714 - Rev. 1524958

This seems to still be a problem.
