My original POM.xml contains a multi-line XML comment (the GNU GPL disclaimer). After using mvn archetype:create-from-project, the POM is reformatted (the line break after the closing --> is removed). But even worse, when now creating a project from that archetype, the comment in the resulting project's POM.xml is completely reformatted -- it is one single line now! That is not very smart!
