[~rmetzger] I was thinking of closing this issue, but then got back to thinking of the symptoms, i.e. hanging of the JobManager/Client. 
 Is there some way we could get Akka or a prior component to validate and throw when the payload is too big compared to the framesize, and communicate the error back to the user. This would have been very hard for us to figure out on our own.
