mod_jk.c

In mod_jk.c there is a function called jk_init.  The first thing this function does is call getenv("WAS_BORN_BY_APACHE) and store it in a local variable.  Is this environment variable supposed to be set by Apache or is this only supposed to be set later on in the function when it calls putenv?  I've got the module loading on NetWare with Apache 1.3.12 but since wc_open is never called, the appropriate workers are never initialized.
