The SVN-developers are a gay bunch of FUCKING FAIRIES

Hello search-engine:
hooks doesn't work
hook script does not run
post-commit

So it turns out that the hook-scripts have to be WITHOUT EXTENSIONS,
meaning you can't run "post-commit.sh", but "post-commit" is fine.

FUCK YOU FUCKING FUDGEPACKERS.

Thank you for your attention.

Interesting thought...

The sound isn't working on my PC, but the visuals are enough to inspire
a link on this mailing list. It does appear to me that they're
over-compensating for something...

One interesting thing I've learned in life is that our actions say
nothing about others, yet they tell the entire world about us. In
other words, for some reason, this person wanted to tell everyone he is
closed-minded and homophobic and that either his parents never taught
him manners, or he is unable to rise above his anger and take the high
road. Instead, he'd rather let his anger control him.

It's a shame he felt the need to tell the whole world (after all, it
won't be long until you can find this post by Googling his name) about
his faults.

Ahh but does the team that has to put up with VSS also deserve having
to deal with this compelling advertisement for employee black-lists.

Actually it's quite odd. Normally, folks possessing the
intellectual capacity to post such drivel over a "Doh! I'm such an
idiot" moment have _horrible_ spelling and punctuation. I'm especially
suprised to see so many commas used, and used properly (as opposed to
the traditional run-on sentence.) And why wasn't everything in all
caps?
Does this mean that ranting idiots are becoming more literate
(literate, but cannot RTFM?) or perhaps the email was dictated to
someone with an education? (But who would put up with such a person?)
IMO, the OP must have left his computer unlocked and unattended and
works with "funny" friends/co-workers, so let's not judge him too
harshly.

I've been on a lot of mailing lists for a many years, and this has to be
the most pointless, immature and insulting message I have ever read.

I think the classic Internet responses are

1) Remind Mr. Pettersen to log out of his account next time he leaves the
public terminal room and/or make sure all of his traffic is encrypted when
he uses the WiFi at the local coffe shop so that people don't pull
embarrassing pranks like this on him.

Or

2) Accuse him of being a Microsoft plant (or other vendor of competing
software), trying to sabotage the list.

Or

3) Point out that it's always the closet cases that are rabid about
homosexuality, and perhaps he should consider making peace with his own
impulses instead of projecting them on others.

Apparently the poster had the sense to run a grammar and spell checker on
the posting before he sent it, or is well-educated enough not to need such
tools. The posting didn't provide us with ammunition for a spelling and
grammar flame in retaliation. That would make me conclude that (2) is the
correct theory. The repetitiveness and lack of wit and punch in the
posting, combined with better-than-adequate grammar and spelling, would
lead me to think that it was not posted by someone with a technical
background.

Toungue planted firmly in cheek,

Sheryl

I've usually heard the variation, more the word that used to be used to
describe small sticks used to start a fire.

One time I was working at a summer camp here, in the US, in the woods,
and there was a country store nearby. One of our exchange counselors
from London walked in to the store and asked for cigarettes, but using
the British slang for them. It was a kick to see the clerk's face when
she thought he was asking for homosexuals.

Perhaps he's just a frustrated and socially inept person who doesn't
realize that rudeness is a weak man's imitation of strength.

As to your desire to immerse yourself in European football culture, I
would suggest going to see Utrecht-Ajax in the Dutch league next year.
You will feel right at home amongst 25000+ rabid fans musically
commenting on the maternal and spousal lineages of certain visiting
players from Amsterdam.

After looking at the OP more carefully, I have to say that I think I was
in error. It is most likely an example of English (as opposed to
American) Homophobic. The tip-off is the use of the word "FAIRIES". That
is, I believe (from a lifetime of Monty Python watching), a typical
derogatory term for homosexual in England, but is not in common use in
the US. We prefer a term which the English instead use to designate a
cigarette. The potential for awkward misunderstandings caused by this is
left as an exercise to the reader.

I don't think I know enough about English Homophobic to analyze it much
better. Sadly, I haven't hung out with the right kind of Englishmen.
Perhaps I should attend a few more international soccer matches to
further my education.

That is an interesting thought though. Perhaps the Norwegian OP learned
his English from attending soccer matches, and thus this is the only way
he knows how to frame an English sentence?

I have to admit, its a pretty good job of cursing, in the American
Homophobic style. Most impressive for someone posting from Norway, who
presumably is not a native speaker.

However, I should warn our foreign speakers who are taking notes that
American Homophobic ranting tends to come off as kind of lazy. As
someone who grew up in a largely african-american neighborhood, I
generally prefer rants that cast aspersions various physical,
intellectual, financial, and moral characteristics of the target's
maternal lineage. Its more effort, but your listeners will appreciate it.

Amazingly, subversions documentation is really good for an open source project and explicitly states how the files should be named (post-commit on unix and alike, post-commit.bat, post-commit.com, post-commit.exe on windows) and that the script must be executable. (see http://svnbook.red-bean.com/en/1.1/ch05s02.html#svn-ch-5-sect-2.1 for further information).

If you don't like subversion you may use any free or commercial RCS - however if you treat their customer support the same way, they might just decide not to take your money (at least that's what we tend to do with customers that start to misbehave in such ways - sometimes all the money in the world is not worth the hassle).

You're welcome. At least I learned a new insult - might be useful in the future. Nice density of F-Words in the sentence - keep it up and you might beat the good old monty python sketch.
