Thanks for the PR Atri, and the patience :)
I was able to run some tests - thanks to Houston for helping out. The test framework we use at work is based on the Lucene benchmark module and isn’t super complex so while these are some numbers, they might be missing something.
Based on the numbers in the attached PDF, there doesn’t seem to be any perf impact due to this code. The indexing numbers are just there for comparison sake, but the search/query numbers look fine too.
These were tests on Kubernetes, 2 pods (=solr instances), 4 CPUs, 8G memory, 6G of heap.
