Hadoop 0.18 and Pig
I'm interested in using Hadoop 0.18 and Pig. Are there plans to release of
version Pig against Hadoop 0.18 like the Pig 0.1.0 release? I was just going
to use the trunk, but it is hard to tell how stable it is. Are there a lot a
big changes still planned for the trunk?
Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,
In fact we are planning a release with hadoop 18 that should go out in a
couple of weeks. You don't need to wait for the official release,
however, as the trunk of the code is already integrated and you can
build it yourself. This is stable code and is already used inside of
Yahoo.
If you are comfortable building yourself, you are actually better off
building from the types branch as the code their us several times faster
than the one on trunk.
We are planning to merge the types branch with the trunk in the next few
weeks. The code on the branch is stable and is, again, used inside of
Yahoo.
Let me know if you have further question or need additional info.
