[DISCUSS] Hive 2.1.1 bug fix release

Hi team,

Since the release of 2.1.0, there have been more than 170 fixes
that went into branch-2.1 (awesome!). Thus, I think it is a good
time to release 2.1.1.

If you would like some other fixes to be included, please tag
their target version as 2.1.1 so we do not miss them.

If there are no objections, I propose to create an RC next week.

Thanks,
Jesús

Hi Sergio,

Thanks for running QA. I did not have the chance to take a look at the failing tests
yet. I will do it today/tomorrow.

We can continue the discussion in HIVE-14884. Let's create subtasks for every batch
of similar issues and bring the count to zero.

Thanks,
Jesús

Jesus,

There are 65 test failures on branch-2.1 now.
https://builds.apache.org/view/H-L/view/Hive/job/HIVE-Branch-Test/10/#showFailuresLink

The majority of the failures are related to LLAP and ORC tests. It doesn't
look a golden output issue. There are other exceptions.
Could you help me triage those errors? or anyone which LLAP and ORC
experience to take a look at them?

Thanks Sergio.

Since only bug fixes were going in, I would expect that most failures
are just a matter of regenerating q files. But certainly, we should
make sure all tests are passing.

I will take a look at some jiras useful for it.

Btw, many tests are failing on branch-2.1.
Are we going to fix them before the release?
