Removing the "Question" type from JIRA
Hi All
Eric has informed me that the JIRA issue type "Question" seems to be
misleading some of our users to ask questions using the JIRA. Almost all
of these [1] have been then marked as Invalid, and the users requested
to use the forums.. Shall I disable this type of issues from JIRA - if
possible?
thanks
asankha

Ah cool.. I guess you have JIRA instance administration privileges in
addition to administration privileges on the project.

I think this is fine.. Normally questions are supposed to end up on the
mailing list, and even though these invalid issues does not exist on the
JIRA anymore, they are still on the mailing list archives.
thanks!

Asankha
It worked for me. No idea why.
Please note, though, I chose to delete the existing issues of type
Question instead of converting them to bugs.
Please double-check.
Cheers

I tried to change this, but was not able to .. I even added myself as an
admin, and even temporarily the project lead - but still it didn't allow
me.. I was wondering if we need to ask for help from Infra to fix it? or
if either of you would have the necessary privileges to change it..
thanks

+1.
The list of types for HTTPCLIENT and HTTPCORE look wrong - c.f. MATH
and LANG and other Commons JIRAs which don't have nearly as many
options. Likewise Jakarta BSF. These use
Issue Type Scheme: Apache Default Issue Type Scheme
whereas HC uses
Issue Type Scheme: Default Issue Type Scheme

+1. I think what it takes is creating a project specific issue type
scheme in JIRA, which should be fairly straightforward. I have been
meaning to do so for quite a while but never got around to actually
doing it.
