how to create directories from a list?

I have a property set to a list of directories that I need to create. 
However, mkdir only supports a single directory and there is no looping 
(I would rather use the stock Ant). Is there a way to do this?

Instead of:

    <mkdir dir="${deploy}/pdf" />
    <mkdir dir="${deploy}/tmp" />

I would like to use (something like):

    <property name="extra.dirs" value="pdf tmp" />
    <mkdirs dirs="${extra.dirs}" root="${deploy}" />

Any ideas?
