building modperl + other module - how?

I am a newbie at this stuff, but i did manage to build apache 1.3.11 
with a nis authentication module and it worked. Now when i attempt 
to build with the nis module and modperl the nis module is left out.

As far as i can tell Makefile.PL does not read the src/Configuration 
file and thus is not reading the AddModule line i added. It calls;

(cd ../apache_1.3.11 && CC="/opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc -g" ./configure 
--activate-module=src/modules/perl/libperl.a --prefix=/local/apache)

Is there some way i can instruct it to pass another activate-module 
parameter to configure?

Have you read the installation section of the Guide?

perl.apache.org/guide

When you're new to it, configuring/compiling is a bit of a minefield,
admitteldly.  Please let Stas or me know if you think it needs any
clarification.
