ANN: "Subversion - a Compelling Alternative to CVS and BitKeeper"
Check:
http://better-scm.berlios.de/subversion/compelling_alternative.html
It is still a bit rough on the edges, and could have some typos of many
sorts. It is also an opinion article more than an informative one.
Still, comments and suggestions are welcome.

You are right about that and I actually felt it was so after I finished
writing the article. But release early, release often. I'll change it when
I get back home.
I need to give full transcripts of SVN/BK and CVS usages, but was too lazy
and impatient. (two of the greatest qualities of a programer)

Will be fixed. Stay tuned.

It barely talks about Subversion and how it improves over CVS. It never
really says why you'd use it instead of CVS. Instead, the articule reads
mostly as "well, there is also BitKeeper and Aegis and Arch, but they all
suck for one reason or another, so all that is left is CVS and Subversion.
oh, and Subversion is better."
If the title of the articule were something like "Easy to Use Version
Control Systems Lead the Pack", then the article might make more sense.

That's true, but you can also work on it like CVS where a commit is:
bk ci or bk citool
[repeat some times]
bk commit [ to create a changeset]
bk push [url]
(IIRC)
A bit more tedious but is working.

It also has distributed changesets. How to use them - beats me - the
documentation is in a poor state.

OK. I'll might mention it in my next revision.

Interesting. You suprised me in the "The C/B/S Way of Doing Things" section.
I thought you were going to talk about the main goals of each of these
tools, which would help you as you discussed why SVN was an alternative and
what crowd it might appeal to (or why it was more appealing to you). I think
that would be important as you discuss why some of the other systems don't
work for you. For example (on goals), Bitkeeper seems more focused on
distributed changesets, Aegis is more focused on the development process,
etc.; and these things all affect why you see SVN as a better tool for how you
use these kinds of tools.
I hope that made sense.
