Is anything happening with this bug?  I just spent a full day on this problem
only to independently come to the exact same conclusion Charles came to and my
change is exactly like the change Charles has submitted.  (Great minds think
alike.  Good work, Charles.)

The current implementation is very ignorant as to how the Java class loader
works (especially when using J2EE containers.)  I do not see this as a "minor"
bug but as at least a "major" bug.

Please understand that the committers are very busy people.  They have
work of their own, and Velocity development is mostly voluntary work. 
(Although I do agree that this bug has been left open for a looong
time.)

In the meantime, you can change the priority/severity of the issue
yourself.  And besides, this is open source.  Nobody (except for maybe
your customer) will stop you from applying the patch locally.

## I'd love to see a lot of the posted patches applied, too.
