Rick Hillegas resolved DERBY-6554.

       Resolution: Fixed
    Fix Version/s: 10.11.0.0

It appears to me that this bug is fixed after checking in derby-6554-02-ae-selfDeadlock_sps_compress.diff. Follow-on issues have been created. I am resolving this issue.
