[ACTION REQUIRED] Removal of v3 artifact actions on December 5th
Hello Everyone!
I am writing to inform you of the imminent removal of the v3 artifact
actions that was announced in [1]. Both actions/upload-artifact@v3*
and actions/download-artifact@v3* will stop working in 10 days, on
December 5, 2024! According to a quick code search this project is
using one of the actions with a v3 tag in at least one of its repos.
There are breaking changes in the usage of the upload action that will
likely require changes other than bumping the version, please see [2].
Make sure to update your workflows in time to avoid disruptions!
If you have any questions or need help with the transition I'd
recommend builds@apache.org as the place to look for help.

Thanks Sung. I assumed grep.app will continuously index all GitHub repos
but it seems to be missing a few.
For completeness, I went through the GitHub search feature, using
`org:apache` with both `upload-artifact@v3` and `download-artifact@v3`.

Looks like `iceberg-rust` is the only place we missed.

We merged the PR[1] to upgrade `upload-artifact` to V4. Thanks, Fokko for

It's merged. Thanks Christopher!
I've backported the patch to branch-3.9 and branch-3.8, I believe
these're the only branches which we maintain today. Backport was nice
and clean, so I think they're not much different from the master.

Yes. This is a simple patch to the .github/workflow/ yaml files for
GitHub Actions. I'm fixing it for Accumulo side projects now. I can
create a PR for ZK also.

I am writing to inform you of the imminent removal of the v3 artifact
actions that was announced in [1]. Both actions/upload-artifact@v3*
and actions/download-artifact@v3* will stop working in 10 days, on
December 5, 2024! According to a quick code search this project is
using one of the actions with a v3 tag in at least one of its repos.
There are breaking changes in the usage of the upload action that will
likely require changes other than bumping the version, please see [2].
Make sure to update your workflows in time to avoid disruptions!
If you have any questions or need help with the transition I'd
recommend builds@apache.org as the place to look for help.

I can't find any artifacts@v3 references in our workflows. Could you please
share those scan results?

Hi, I found single remaining occurrence and opened the PR [1].
I see in the migration guide you shared they do also change the "name" property
from:
name: my-artifact
to:
name: my-artifact-${{ matrix.runs-on }}
However, as our action .yml file does not seem to run in matrix, we are probably fine.
