[jira] [Commented] (CONNECTORS-824) For files, support file path index

Karl Wright commented on CONNECTORS-824:
----------------------------------------

I'm not sure that trying to build generalized file-access features to support various content repositories into the JDBC connector is the best approach. It would be far better, in my view, to use whatever supported API the content repository has to gain access to the content.

> For most Content Management System, binary files such as office format attachment, zip files are not stored as CLOB or BLOB in DB. They usually stored as a binary file in the filesystem or a NAS system, even urls for cloud file system, And stored the path in the {file_path} column on db's table. So if manifold could support a general api to get different store implementation would better. The only cms I knew stores file as CLOB is SharePoint. Most popular cms such as Wordpress doesn't use that solution.
