Havrobase

Hi Guys,

While checking for something unrelated, I came across HAvrobase, which
seems to be surprisingly similar to Gora. Anyone familiar with that
project, or the main developer. It seems he moved on to other projects, but
might be something to investigate further. What do you think?

Thanks,
Enis

Hi Lewis,

No worries. It's always nice to get contacted for a project you started so
I am sure he won't mind :-)

Hey Guys,

I've never heard of it, but it might be worth reaching out (cross posting
to their ML and including gora-dev@ as well) and asking if they would
like to collaborate.

Cheers,
Chris

Hi,

I haven't dug into HAvroBase codebase, so I am not sure, whether there is
any synergy at the code level,
but yeah, we can contact him, to see whether he can share some insight into
the project.

Thanks,
Enis

Hi Enis,

Yeah this looks pretty familiar indeed. Although you wouldn't be surprised
to see a requirement to store stuff in HBase and search via Solr I am
pretty surprised that no-one throughout the whole of the ASF to date has
questioned the similarity of the two projects... maybe HAvroBase didn't get
such a big following? This is the first its been brought to my attention.
