Why does Whirr create its own key pairs?

	Ok,  I'm still new to whirr. 

Trying to understand why the following occurs…

I'm spinning up a CHD4-Yarn cluster. 
I specify my own key pair to be used. 
When the cluster is being built, a clouds#<my recipe>#<some string>  is being created. 
I can see these key pairs being created on AWS. 

Is there anyway to specify my existing key to be used for the build? 

The key pair gets used when I run the cluster, but apparently not when I build it.

Thoughts?
