entity catalogs support - finalisation

Does the entity resolver start correctly for everybody?
At the default verbosity level, you should see resolver
messages going to standard output.

It would be good to finalise it so that we can add it
to the C2.0 release. The only thing that i can see holding
it up, is a success report from a Macintosh platform.

The only failure reports so far turned out to be config
mistakes.

(If you need to catch up, then see xdocs/catalog.xml
and the link to catalog sample.)

Yes, I have such file there.

Now I get where the problem comes from: I don't use 'install' command to
build the application. I build it in the old way: build.bat ... webapp and
then copy the war file manualy to the appropriate directory.

So, I corrected the path manualy and it worked!

Hi Konstantin, does the following file exist under tomcat home?
webapps\cocoon\WEB-INF\classes\CatalogManager.properties
It should have been copied there by the build process and the
path to the default catalog automatically adjusted. If not, then
see the Build Notes in xdocs/catalog.xml

If that was OK, then did you get any status messages going to
stdout when accessing the demo? Also, please watch for catalog
loader messages when Cocoon starts. and operates.

Re: entity catalogs support - finalisation

Hi!

Just now updated my CVS and tried the entity catalog sample. Unfortunately,
the problem remains. I get this error again:

org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: File
"file:/D:/Java/cdk-dist/webapps/cocoon2/docs/samples/catalog/ISOnum.pen" not
found.
 at org.apache.cocoon.components.source.URLSource.toSAX(URLSource.java:306)

treamPipeline.java:364)
 at
org.apache.cocoon.www.sitemap_xmap.wildcardMatchN391(sitemap_xmap.java:4801)
...

As I can see the path shows to the /docs/samples/ etc. directory, but the
needed file is in resources/...

My configuration is the same:
WinNT 4.0
Tomcat 3.3-dev
JDK 1.3

Hi Jeremy, i would guess that you have the same problem
as did Konstantin. That is the expected error message when the
entity resolver has no mapping for the requested entity.
The entity resolver probably did not configure itself because it could
not find the properties file at Cocoon startup. Please see the
recent email to Konstantin on this thread.

Hi Carsten, you should not need to set the "catalogs" property
manually. It should be automatically set by the build process
to be full pathname to webapps/cocoon/resources/entities/catalog

Did you use build -Dinstall.war=$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps

Also for those who don't know it yet, to simplify the building process you can
put all these properties into .ant.properties file located in the same
directory as build.xml is, here is mine to show

---- cut .ant.properties ---

include.webapp.libs=yes
install.war=/home/martin/tmp/work/jakarta-tomcat/webapps
remove.webapp=yes

Phew!

Thanks Vadim, yes it works on Mac OSX!!
Hurrah!!

Yes, it needs more carefully documenting, or simplifying in the build
scripts ;)

Thanks

If your ever used build without specifying install dir - then yes, it's required,
because on second run Ant will skip this step:
    <copy todir="${build.war}" filtering="on">
in
  <target name="copy-webapp" depends="prepare">
target, but it needs to be executed with initialized variable "install.war".

However, are you sure that build clean is needed.
I just do the one-line build command that you have shown
and all is well.

Jeremy,

Do not combine these tasks!
And, do not do install if you ever used build.sh without -Dinstall.war=$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps
parameter!

Try this:
./build.sh clean
./build.sh -Dinclude.webapp.libs=yes -Dinstall.war=$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps install

PS Need to write clearly in doc that before install clean is required - or change build.xml...

cd $TOMCAT_HOME/bin

./build.sh -Dinstall.war=$TOMCAT_HOME/webapps install
cd $TOMCAT_HOME/bin
./startup.sh

I get the same error.

The file :
'/Volumes/Tardis/Library/TomCat/webapps/cocoon/WEB-INF/classes/CatalogManager.properties'
line 26 still says
'catalogs=${install.war}/cocoon/resources/entities/catalog'

Am I still doing something wrong?

regards Jeremy

AW: entity catalogs support - finalisation

Posted by Carsten Ziegeler <cz...@sundn.de>.
Did you try to set the correct catalog path in the
CatalogManager.properties file (in WEB-INF/classes),
it should read something like "${install.war}/...".
After changing this manually, it works. Without changing
I get exactly the same error as you did.

Carsten

With an update from CVS (about 10 mins ago) running Cocoon 2 under TomCat
3.3-m3 running on MacOS X 10.0.4 I get this error message, when I click on
the link on the welcome page to test the 'Entity resolution using catalogs':

org.apache.cocoon.ProcessingException: Failed to execute pipeline.:
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: File
"file:/Volumes/Tardis/Library/TomCat/webapps/cocoon/docs/samples/catalog/ISOnum.pen"
not found.

Yes, and the file is not there .....

Please see the last posting to Konstantin.

Yes, this has been happening over the last few week. Many
patches have gone into the HEAD 2.1-dev branch to implement
the support.

No! It is one of the samples I mentioned not working correctly as well as the
sitemap editor throwing exception.

Hmm.., Sylvain?

I'm not familiar with the catalog stuff. Do you have a patch for it?
