New Apache Camel website front page

Hi

Adriano is working on a proposal for a new more modern website style and
front page.
https://github.com/apache/camel-website/pull/1740

There is a preview from today at
https://pr-1740--camel.netlify.app/

The goal is not to make it finished in first try, but to get us to a great
start, and then we can iterate to tweak and polish as usual afterwards.

Hi

The search box can find components. But it may be widened to hit more if
you search for database, or AI etc.

The image cannot be seen on the mailing list, we will keep updating the
website so when you are back from PTO its easier to report via GH issues

Re: New Apache Camel website front page

Claus, this looks really nice. I did encounter a few issues:

1. Clicking on component reference at
https://pr-1740--camel.netlify.app/components/latest/, returns an error
message:

*"This file exists solely to defeat the limitations of the link checker,
that is unaware of the .htaccess redirect from this page to the latest
released version.*

*If you see this, you are not viewing the site through httpd or there is
something wrong with the .htaccess file: in the latter case please let the
camel developers know."*

Accessing via https://pr-1740--camel.netlify.app/components/next/index.html
works fine, though.

2. Not having the search box for the components is a bit annoying, as we
have a long list of those. It makes it harder.

3. We still need to find a better way to present component descriptions
(see the attached picture). The field is too narrow and our descriptions
too long. I don't know what solution we should use, but I'd suggest
investigating what modern UX practices recommend for cases like this.

Great work!

Hi

The new website is live.
It's just a first iteration, and we will refine it over the coming months.

Huge thanks to Adriano and others involved in working on this.

Now we have a site we can be proud and that should foster us to improve the
content, navigation, and what else.
