Re: Need spring upgrade in ActiveMQ

Hi JB,

Do we have any update on the below ticket [AMQ-8026] Upgrade to Spring 5.x
- ASF JIRA (apache.org) <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMQ-8026>

More than spring upgrade, I am focusing on the issue
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMQ-8058

[ Change made in spring since 5.2 and which expects the same from ActiveMQ
on runtime but which fails due to the spring 4.3.26 reference.

*Which in turn needs a spring upgrade but to bypass the issue, I have
replaced the old spring jar with the latest spring jar.*

Modifying dependency here is not the right way
*but want to clarify whether this way will impact ActiveMQ.*

Planned to use this approach if the Spring upgrade takes some more time.

Hi,

Yes, there’s an update:

- ActiveMQ 5.16.1 and 5.15.15 will use Spring 4.3.30.RELEASE with all latest CVE update
- ActiveMQ 5.17.0 will use Spring 5.3.2 (I will push the PR).

About the release schedule:

- I’m on 5.16.1 preparation right now, I hope to submit the release to vote by the end of the week/next week
- 5.15.15 will follow
- 5.17.0 will be in at least 2 or 3 weeks
