[jira] [Created] (COUCHDB-2770) New Notification Design

Eytan Davidovits created COUCHDB-2770:
-----------------------------------------

             Summary: New Notification Design
                 Key: COUCHDB-2770
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-2770
             Project: CouchDB
          Issue Type: Improvement
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Fauxton
            Reporter: Eytan Davidovits

I have a 2 suggestions regarding notifications on the dashboard.
1) To improve the usability of the dashboard while a notification is on the screen I suggest making the notification much less wide and having it initially show only one line and rolling over it would would display the rest of the message. If the user doesn't rollover it, the message will disappear after 5 seconds.

And here is a clickable prototype for stacked notifications: https://beta.atomic.io/d/2Ak336DP0S9b

2) Currently, when creating a User Database, the user is not given instructions on what names are appropriate and if the user inputs an invalid name, the box disappears and a large notification pops over. I propose having the instructions below the text box with an error notification right below the box if something goes wrong.
