[jira] [Created] (MESOS-8401) Python files in Debian package in wrong location with wrong permissions

Gijs Molenaar created MESOS-8401:
------------------------------------

Summary: Python files in Debian package in wrong location with wrong permissions
                 Key: MESOS-8401
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MESOS-8401
             Project: Mesos
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: python api
    Affects Versions: 1.4.1
            Reporter: Gijs Molenaar

When I install the Mesos package the Python files are installed in `/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages`. This should be dist-packages:

https://wiki.debian.org/Python#Deviations_from_upstream

Also, the permissions are quite restrictive, and can only be accessed by root.

This wouldn't be a problem if the Python API was easily installable by Pip which they are not, which makes the Debian packages potentially very useful.
