jclouds with trystack

Hello.

I'm beginning with jclouds openstack with trystack following getting
started tutorial

https://jclouds.apache.org/guides/openstack/

My java source is attached. The output is here

http://pastebin.com/Up2sDDk2

I'd also downloaded RC file from trystack and placed the API access
password there.

However, the Nova Server app doesn't seem to deploy.

Request help.

Hi,

Your program is OK. You just need to change the identity and
credential lines to match your TryStack user. These lines:

    String identity =  "demo:demo";
    String credential = "password";

Need to be changed to the right value. I've tried with my very-old
TryStack account that uses a Facebook login, changing it to something
like:

    String identity =  "facebook1234567890:facebook1234567890";
    String credential = "generated api password";

In my case, the user and the tenant are the same (you can see its name
at the right top when you access the console), and the API password
can be generated by going to the top right menu, then to Settings >
API Password.

HTH!

I.

This is a different error: an Authorization one.

Are you providing the right credentials? jclouds expects by default
the credentials in the following form:

identity = "tenantName:userName"
credential = "password"

Are you providing the credentials in that format?

Thanks! In that file, could you try replacing

             .endpoint("https://8.43.86.2:5000/v2.0/")

with

             .endpoint("http://8.43.86.2:5000/v2.0/")

(i.e. "http" rather than "https") to see if that makes a difference?

Also, please reply to user@jclouds.apache.org rather than to me directly

help if I'm not around.

Thanks for that! From a quick look, it appears as though jclouds is
configured to access https://... rather than http://, as in your cURL
example?

Could you post a snippet of the code/command line in which you are
configuring jclouds with the endpoint?

Hi Rupinder

Could you try a cURL or similar from the box, with appropriate headers
etc., to verify whether the TryStack endpoint is responding correctly if
we take jclouds out of the loop?

Thanks!

Have you configured the right endpoint? In your TryStack instance, go
to Project -> Access & Security -> API Access, and copy the "Identity"
endpoint. That's the one you need to use.

There is no mistery here. The endpoint you configure in jclouds must
be reachable from the machine where jclouds runs. Otherwise jclouds
(and no application) won't be able to connect there.
