   I have simulated a 9.0.0 release locally including buildAndPushRelease, and after #353 it will also add source release, and gpg signing of all artifacts. Next hurdle is smoke tester, but I won't do that in this PR.
   
   I think it makes sense to merge these improvements now and then open new PRs for other release related things.
