in batik/ext/awt/image/rendered/AbstractRed there is this code at line 113:
   init( src, bounds, src.getColorModel(), src.getSampleModel(),
        (src==null)? 0:src.getTileGridXOffset(),
        (src==null)? 0:src.getTileGridYOffset(),
         props);

this blows up when src is actually null.

similar code at line 98.
FindBugs is great !!
