Glad you could resolve your problem. We did change the default of {{max.poll.interval.ms}} to infinite (ie, {{Integer.MAX_VALUE}} already. And we are working on some more improvements so Streams should be more robust if the value is small, too (cf. https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-5152)
