Subject: [PROPOSAL]: Removing xmlParserAPIs.jar from the binary
distribution

Hello everyone,

Since Xerces-J 2.3.0, the binary distribution has included both
xml-apis.jar and xmlParserAPIs.jar. xml-apis.jar contains the standard
APIs: SAX, DOM and JAXP. xmlParserAPIs.jar is a copy of xml-apis.jar.
They currently both exist because we wanted to give users a chance to
change their environments (CLASSPATH, etc...) without abruptly removing
xmlParserAPIs.jar.

We have been encouraging users to switch from the deprecated
xmlParserAPIs.jar to xml-apis.jar for over a year now, so it seems like
this is a good time to discontinue shipping this jar file. This would
reduce the size of the binary packages and also end the confusion that
some users seem to have about the difference (or lack thereof) between
the two jars.
