DO NOT REPLY [Bug 50501] New: Tomcat needs to much time to invalidate sessions

https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=50501

           Summary: Tomcat needs to much time to invalidate sessions
           Product: Tomcat 6
           Version: 6.0.29
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: Catalina
        AssignedTo: dev@tomcat.apache.org
        ReportedBy: 1983-01-06@gmx.net

I have a logout servlet which has the following line:
forward("/end.jsp", request, response);
session.setMaxInactiveInterval(10);

Next to this I was watching the sessions list for this webapp in the manager.
Altough I set the max inactive to 10 seconds, it took tomcat upto a minute to
dispose the session.
This should happen immediately or with a minimal lag. See attached screenshot
of the manager app.

I sorry, bugzilla forgot to upload my attachment. Will do asap.
I can't use #invalidate(), this is cause all JS & CSS files in my JSP to create
a new session.

1) There is no attachment.
2) Why aren't you using session.invalidate()?

> This should happen immediately or with a minimal lag
3) It should not. Processing timeouts is a background task. By design, there is
some minimum interval before the timed out session is noticed. You can
configure how frequently the background processing runs on a Context, Host or
Engine.

Sounds like a question to ask on the user list. JS and CSS files cause sessions
to be created? Not under a default configuration.
