make failed with 2.0b9
Hi!
I have two running Embperls. One with Apache 1/ Emperl 1 at Debian and
one with Apache 2/ Embperl 2 on Redhat. To simplify things i tryd to
make Embperl-2.0b9 at Debian, too. I installed Apache 2 from testing
(Apache/2.0.47). But the Embperl make fails with some errors (see
below).
I searched the archive of this mailinglist and found simillar Errors
from other users:
http://www.ecos.de/~mailarc/embperl/2003-04/msg00025.html
http://www.ecos.de/~mailarc/embperl/2003-06/msg00027.html
Both refere to older versions, but show the same characteristics, the
same missing *.h files. There where no answers to this problems, so i
decided to try again here.
Any ideas about this?

make is ok, but make test failed with multiple errors :-(

hm... i never used debian source packages since now. Normally i want
to build from source, because i want to have the newest release. But
if i use debian packages i have to wait. But maybe i should give it a
try.

You should do that just to be sure, since it doesn't take long,
but I can't say if it will help. Just try it...

Thanks for your help, but i cant get rid of multiple
"unmet-dependencies" :-(
if i install the deb anywhere with --force-depends than i got
Cannot load /usr/lib/perl5/auto/Embperl/Embperl.so into server:
/usr/lib/perl5/auto/Embperl/Embperl.so: undefined symbol:
Perl_gv_stashpv
at apache2-startup-time. Is this because of an to old mod_perl? Maybe
i should try compile mod_perl myself?
Thanks for any help.

You can take the package I built if you want. It's highly
inofficial and there won't be regular updates since at the moment
I do only use Embperl at home, but it works for me...
http://www.lug-owl.de/~andrel/embperl2-apache2_2.0.b9+CVS20031010-2_i386.deb
And remember to install the latest available mod_perl, which is
libapache2-mod-perl2 1.99.091-1 as of now. Maybe this is still
only available in the experimental tree, I have the following
line in my sources.list:
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian ../project/experimental main contrib non-free

Yes, but there seems to be a missing -I in Maekfile.PL. See mails
before.

Makefile.PL takes the Apache paths from the mod_perl installation If your
mod_perl was compiled with different Apache direcories, than on your current
machine, Makefile.PL of Embperl don't find the files. By installing
mod_perl, you have made sure that everything fits.
I know that some tests fails with Perl 5.8.1, that are not problems of
Embperl, but Problems of make test. These will be fix in the next release.
If you don't use Perl 5.8.1, please send me the ouput of
make test TESTARGS="-i"

Ok, finally it works for me. But i did not really know what makes the
difference. I installed the newest mod_perl and simply ignoring the
failed make test. maybe that was it.
Many thanks for Andre for his help!

Hi!
I added -I/usr/include/apr-0 manually in Makefile.PL. After this the
missing-files errors did not appear any longer. Instead there are some
new errors(see below).
The variables seems to be compatibility declarations in
/usr/include/apr-0/
Any hints? Whats this apr-0? In the debian-decription they are
referenced as "development package for the apache runtime".
Why are they not included in Embperl?
