On-disk tablet data deletion can lag behind table deletion; this can be a "feature" or a "bug" depending on how you look at it.

Or are you saying that the tablet metadata still exists too? And if so, where does it exist? In the master? In the tserver hosting the tablet? Can you provide some more information, including logs where appropriate?
