Arbitrary XML (e.g., like plugin.xml) in Felix bundle
Is there a way to achieve the functionality of Eclipse-like plugin.xml files
just using Felix and Declarative Services? Or to include additional data
with a plugin, am I limited to name-value pairs in the manifest?
Thanks,
Jared

Thanks, Stuart. That was indeed what I was wondering and the article was a
good read. I guess the key point from the article is: "there is no reason,
at least in theory, that extensions cannot be used on other OSGi runtimes
such as Apache Felix or Knopflerfish."
The takeaway also seems to be that extensions are the way to go for RCP
applications.
Has anyone tried the org.eclipse.equinox.registry and .common bundles with
Felix? I'll give it a shot onw.

you mean does Declarative Services have the same
functionality as the Eclipse Extension Point Registry?
Neil Bartlett has a good review of extension points vs
plain OSGi services which may answer your question:
http://www.eclipsezone.com/articles/extensions-vs-services/
and there's other component based approaches like
Spring Dynamic Modules and iPOJO that can work
with the Felix framework
Thanks,
