Is JCS ready for production use?

I've found a separated copy of JCS in
http://cvs.apache.org/dist/jakarta/turbine/nightly/jakarta-turbine-jcs/
 
However it's in DEV mode.  Is it ready for production use as yet?  The
documentation seems to indicate so, and the last build was from
http://cvs.apache.org/dist/jakarta/turbine/nightly/jakarta-turbine-jcs/jakar
ta-turbine-jcs-dev-20030826.tar.gz
 
- eg 08 26 (August / September), so development doesn't seem too rapid
(indicating a level of maturity).
 
Is this the case?   I ask, as we'd like to use it for a web cache - but only
if it works!  :)
