PorterStemmer no longer public in RC1

Could we make PorterStemmer a public class? We were using it outside of 
the Analyzer framework. Actually, we were doing some manipulation of 
terms such that they pass through a series of analyzer stages and this 
was all coded outside of the lucene.analysis package. Is there an 
overriding reason to keep it hidden?
