Linking problems Xerces 1.4
Hello !
We have xml4c 3.1 (Xerces 1.1), and are trying to upgrade to Xerces 1.4. We
get compilation errors when trying to link with xlC on AIX 4.3.3. We do not
have glink or gmake, and hope to link with the AIX lib without having to get
it (since xlC_r is an supported compiler and all). We get the followong
errors when linking (compiling is OK):

xlC: 1501-240 Previous errors were found when compiling
tempinc/NameIdPool.hpp.C
make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 1.
Does anybody know what this means ? The libxerces-c1_4.a lib is placed in
the ../bin/debug directory, so there should be no problem finding the lib.
Why is it looking for an include file when linking ? I tried to supply the
include path for Xerces 1.4 for the link, but just got a different error.

Just a guess.
If you are using Visual Age xlC. You are not allowed to mix old and new style
stream header files.
i.e.
using simultanously '#include <iostream.h>' and '#include <iostream>' causes
planty of error messages you do not understand at first glance.

It looks like the linker needs to find some of the headers and .c files for
template resolution.
At a guess, you probably need to add some include path info to your xlC
command line. Although, that seems to only apply if you're compiling with
XERCES_TMPLSINC defined -- and the Makefile for AIX doesn't look like it's
defining it.
