Assembly change artifact extension

Hi

Is it possible to change assembly artifact extension  (here i need to
produce a SAR) ?

I konw it is possible to do this for over plugins, eg: jar
(Create a new empty plugin with a components.xml file with
<role-hint>my.new.extension</role-hint>)

But i fail to do this with assembly.

Any ideas ?
