[jira] [Created] (HELIX-202) Ideal state should be a full mapping, not just a set of instance preferences

Kanak Biscuitwala created HELIX-202:
---------------------------------------

Summary: Ideal state should be a full mapping, not just a set of instance preferences
                 Key: HELIX-202
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HELIX-202
             Project: Apache Helix
          Issue Type: Improvement
            Reporter: Kanak Biscuitwala

Currently, we define and use the IdealState as a set of node preferences for each partition. This is confusing to a user because it's more of an intermediate structure when the name conveys that it is how the cluster should ideally be in full detail.
