[jira] Created: (BEEHIVE-536) Pageflow compiler does not consistently display errors for the attached pageflow

Pageflow compiler does not consistently display errors for the attached pageflow
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

         Key: BEEHIVE-536
         URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BEEHIVE-536
     Project: Beehive
        Type: Bug
  Components: NetUI
    Versions: V1
    Reporter: Alejandro Ramirez
 Assigned to: Rich Feit
    Priority: Minor
 Attachments: doubleSharedFlow.zip

The attached pageflow throws 2 compiler errors. The problem is that the compiler seems to alternate the order in which they are displayed.

Repro:
1.- Unzip the attached pageflow and compile it (e.g you can add it to a beehive enabled webapp and compile your webapp).

Expected: The following 2 errors should be displayed:
[apt] D:\temp\beehiveSharedFlows\WEB-INF\.tmpbeansrc\doubleSharedFlow\SharedFlow2.java:20: There is another shared flow in this directory (SharedFlow1.java). There may only be one SharedFlowController per directory.
      [apt] public class SharedFlow2
      [apt] ^
[apt] D:\temp\beehiveSharedFlows\WEB-INF\.tmpbeansrc\doubleSharedFlow\SharedFlow1.java:19: There is another shared flow in this directory (SharedFlow2.java). There may only be one SharedFlowController per directory.
      [apt] public class SharedFlow1
      [apt] ^
      [apt] 2 errors

ACTUAL: The errors are displayed. However, sometimes the errors are displayed as mentioned above and sometimes are displayed in reverse order (see below). This makes it hard to automate this kind of test.

      [apt] ^
[apt] D:\temp\beehiveSharedFlows\WEB-INF\.tmpbeansrc\doubleSharedFlow\SharedFlow2.java:20: There is another shared flow in this directory (SharedFlow1.java). There may only be one SharedFlowController per directory.
      [apt] public class SharedFlow2
      [apt] ^
      [apt] 2 errors

[jira] Resolved: (BEEHIVE-536) Pageflow compiler does not consistently display errors for the attached pageflow

Rich Feit resolved BEEHIVE-536:

    Resolution: Won't Fix

Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything we can do about this because it depends on the order that apt processes the source files, which is out of our control. I can think of two ways to deal with this for an automated test framework:

    1) Run apt on only *one* of the files. You should get the right error for the single file that you process (I just tried this and got the right result).

    2) Have the test framework accept multiple possible valid outputs.

Wish there was something else, but I think that's it.
