help needed to display excel reports

Hi

I am working on a tapestry application. I need to open an excel document
in the browser where I am sending the file name and path.

Is there any component that can be used for so.

Its relatively very easy to display excel documents using spring
framework but I am not able to get to make it working in tapestry.

You could use the include component here, too
(http://www.tapestrycomponents.org/Tassel/app?service=external/ViewComponent&sp=SInclude)
generate an asset in your code, and pass the
asset parameter to the include component.
It will "include" the excel file as an iframe (you can specify the width
 and height), and it will also correctly detect the excel filetype and
add the appropriate information to the iframe.

Alternatively, someone has posted a "DownloadLink" on tassel; I haven't
used it, so I can't vouch for it, but it may suit your needs.

If you are sending the file yourself through a service you could set the
content-desposition to inline in the http-header

response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline;filename=\"x.xls\"");

Theoretically it should be controlled by
Content-Disposition header
ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc2183.txt
But we never know with MS products...

from experience I know that
response.setHeader("Expires", "0");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control",
"must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0");
    response.setHeader("Pragma", "public");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition",
"attachment; filename=\"" + fileName +"\"");

causes browsers to offer save/open dialogs.

	If I recall the MS browsers do one of two things:

	If the content is application/ms-excel --> display in browser
	If the content is anything else but it ends in .xls -> launch excel
separately.

	It's something along those lines although my memory may be a bit off
on the specific content type flag you have to set.
