[users@httpd] Apache 2047-sol9-configuration hangs at mod_rewrite

hi, 
   i am installing apache 2047 on solaris 9, but the configuration hangs after the line.:-
checking whether to enable mod_rewrite... no
This was even when i was not specifying anything for mod_rewrite in configuration.
it hangs on the followinf line of configure script.
 if (eval "$ac_cpp conftest.$ac_ext") 2>&5 | $EGREP "YES_IS_DEFINED" >/dev/null 2>&1
here the value of ac_cpp => $CPP $CPPFLAGS   where $CPP => cc -E 
     and the value of CPPFLAGS => 
       -DSOLARIS2=9 -D_POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS -D_REENTRANT -I/export/agent6/apache_2047/httpd-2.0.47/srclib/apr/include -I/export/agent6/apache_2047/httpd-2.0.47/srclib/apr-util/include -I/export/agent6/apache_2047/httpd-2.0.47/srclib/apr-util/xml/expat/lib -I. -I$(top_srcdir)/os/$(OS_DIR) -I$(top_srcdir)/server/mpm/$(MPM_SUBDIR_NAME) -I$(top_srcdir)/modules/http -I$(top_srcdir)/modules/filters -I$(top_srcdir)/modules/proxy -I$(top_srcdir)/include -I$(top_srcdir)/modules/dav/main
    for my machine....
  I am unable to understand the problem apart from that it may be related to compiler, I am using following compiler  -:

  can anyone give a clue for the same,
